Free Pregnancy and Infant Parenting Classes Offered at the Duncanville Library

Established in 1993, Children and Family Institute (CFI) is committed to building, strengthening, and restoring families by providing permanent homes for children in need and support services for families in the DFW Metroplex.

Children & Family Institute will offer a unique program entitled “Pathways to Parenting”, on the third Wednesday of every month from 1PM to 3PM at the Duncanville Public Library, located at 201 James Collins Blvd. This free service will start on February 15, 2012 and will be provided to families to assist them in becoming successful parents and individuals. Parents can expect to receive life skills and community resource referrals in addition to the parenting classes.

The Pathways to Parenting program is comprised of various courses including mentoring, childbirth, support groups, career planning, budgeting, financial skills, and adoption education.

Amanda Manchack, Lillian Lawrence, and Brianna Williams will lead these diverse classes and will provide participating parents with “Parenting Bucks” that are given after parents have accomplished specific, personalized goals. Parents are allowed to use these bucks in the CFI donation room to “buy” clothing, toys, equipment, and other necessities for their children.

All services are confidential and free to parents who are expecting or have a child under the age of one. To learn more about CFI or schedule a free, in home parenting class, visit www.cfiadopt.org or call the office at 214-337-9979 and for the shelter and adoption center call 972-291-5335.
