Eva Mae Mirick March 9, 1924 – January 16, 2016

mirickEva Mae Shackelford Mirick was born March 9, 1924, in Merkel, Texas, to George Miller and Clyda Lee (Sudduth) Shackelford.

She graduated from Forest Avenue High School in Dallas, Texas. Eva met and married Rurie Arthur Mirick, Jr., on March 27, 1942, in Dallas. They were married nearly 71 years before the Lord took her dear husband home.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Duncanville and a long-time member of Hampton Place Baptist Church where she served as a greeter. Eva was a prayer warrior, mission supporter and faithfully served the Lord all the years she was able. She worked for many years before she retired at Sanger-Harris Department Store in Dallas in the coat and swimwear department.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Clyda Lee Shackelford; her sister, Monna Jean Carol; and her husband, Rurie Arthur Mirick, Jr.

She is survived by her two daughters, Glenda Mirick Neesley and her husband, Steve, of Pineville, Louisiana, and Donna Mirick Byers and her husband, David, of Ovilla, Texas; four grandchildren, Eric Ray Byers and his wife, Holly, of Midlothian, Texas, Jill Leo and her husband, Kory, of Natchitoches, Louisiana, Amy Penfield and her husband, Kyle of Fort Jessup, Louisiana, and Heather Michaels and her husband, Dallas, of Lancaster, Texas; nine great-grandchildren, Alexis Byers, Adelyn Penfield, Landon Michaels, Easton Penfield, Harper Michaels, Cora Leo, Ashley Byers, Barrett Penfield and Blaize Michaels; sister, Mrs. Barbara Shackelford Lee of Metairie, Louisiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

jaynesVisitation with the family is 1:00 pm, Sunday, January 17, 2016, at Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville, Texas.

Funeral services are 2:00 pm, Sunday, January 17, 2016, also at Jaynes.

Interment will be in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
