For her part in the Lady Patriots’ third straight shutout, Kerry Edwards has been named the Heartland Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week – her third time to win the award in 2011.
The Lady Patriots shut out Newman, 4-0, on October 13 with Edwards in goal for the duration. The seventh shutout on the year for the team dropped her Goals Against Average to a miniscule 0.99 – the second lowest in the conference. Edwards has recorded six of those shutouts on her own this season, which is the best for an individual keeper in the league. Edwards’ .827 save percentage is also tops in the league as she has recorded 62 saves in the 13 games this season.
The Lady Patriots continue Heartland play tonight, October 18, as they take on UT-Permian Basin at 4:00 pm. DBU is currently in second place in the conference while UTPB sits in the final spot of the six team league.
