Edwards Adds Fourth Conference Player of the Week Award

Kerry Edwards collected her fourth Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Week Award after leading the Lady Patriots to their sixth straight win and sixth straight shutout on the season.

The Lady Patriots defeated non-conference opponent Fort Hays this past week and also outscored Heartland Conference opponents UT-Permian Basin and St. Edward’s to take over first place in the conference with two games left to play. During the three games this past week, Edwards was called upon to make 10 saves, including a magnificent save on a penalty shot againt Fort Hays when the score was 0-0. Edwards pushed her save percentage to .847 and lowered her goals against average to 0.81.

The Lady Patriots play two games this coming week while controlling their own destiny in conference play. Thursday they will take on Texas A&M International in Laredo before traveling to San Antonio to face off against St. Mary’s at 1:00 pm.
