Duncanville’s Summer Reading Club is Coming Soon!

Build a Better World is the 2017 Summer Reading Club theme for all ages. Summer Reading Club is June 2 – July 31 and features eight weeks of fantastic, fun programs including musical performances, live animal shows, science shows, story times, arts and crafts, and movies. One of the best things about the summer programs is the price. All library programs are FREE!

Beginning June 2nd, kids and teens can come to the library to get a Summer Reading Club time log and track the time they spend reading. When they complete the 25-hour reading log, they receive prizes including a free book which helps to build their home library collections. They also receive a reading certificate and coupons to local businesses. These incentives encourage kids and teens to read for pleasure over the summer. Studies show that participation in summer reading programs enables children to maintain essential reading skills during their summer vacation and as a result, they are better prepared for the upcoming school year.

Early Literacy logs will be available again this year for children ages 0-3 years. Parents who complete the 25 activities with their children can redeem the log for prizes.

The library is pleased to introduce an Adult Summer Reading Club (ASRC), too. Adults can enter the reading challenge or just enjoy some fun programs including geek games, bad art, trivia contests, and movies.

The Duncanville Public Library is a great place to be this summer. Participate in the Summer Reading Club and build a better world!
