Duncanville High School senior Matthew McQuaid has been selected to compete in the American Family Insurance High School Three-Point Shootout during the NCAA Final Four basketball tournament. Matthew is one of 8 elite basketball players from across the country to be chosen to participate.

McQuaid’s father Robert said he is proud of his son’s accomplishments. “What a great honor for him to be selected as one of the best shooters in the country,” Robert McQuaid said. “All the hard work and many hours of practice have paid off. I’m very proud because I know how much work he has put in over the years.”

Two of the other 3-point competitors are from Texas. Matthew says he does not know much about the other contestants, but he is prepared. “It looks like a good field, but I’m not worried about the other contestants,” Matt said. “I’m just going to go have fun.”

Matthew has signed to play for Michigan State University’s basketball team next year. Michigan State is in the Final Four with a game against Duke Friday evening.

The American Family Insurance High School Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships airs Sunday, April 5 at 2:30 p.m. Central Time on CBS.
