Tonight the Duncanville Panthers will take on the Hebron Hawks in the Division I 6A football playoffs at Pennington Field in Bedford. The game is set for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff and will feature two teams that have had to replace their starting quarterback this season due to injury.
Duncanville lost Jaylin Nelson in late October with a broken leg while playing DeSoto. The Panthers have had backup Trezon Connley step in and lead the Panthers into the playoffs, and a victory in their bi-district game against Killeen Harker Heights. Since losing Nelson, the defense has stepped up and limited opposing teams to below their average in yards and points.
Hebron lost their starting QB, Clayton Tune, last week in their playoff game against Plano East. Backup Cole Jamison is expected to start this week for the Hawks. Jamison will have big shoes to fill as Tune was not only the starting QB, but was also the leading rusher for Hebron.
The winner of this game will face either Midland or Arlington Bowie in the regional playoffs next week.
