Duncanville Police Seize Illegal Gambling Machines From Several Locations

City of Duncanville – After numerous complaints from citizens and a long investigation, the Duncanville Police Department, on September 28th, executed search warrants on 10 locations within the city that were operating illegal gambling rooms. 67 ‘8 liner’ style devices were seized and citations for gambling were issued to anyone playing the machines. The business owners were subsequently advised that any future illegal gambling machines would result in the revocation of their certificate of occupancy, the permit that allows them to run a business in Duncanville. These devices, in the manner they were being used, are illegal in Texas and violate Duncanville city zoning and ordinances.

Unfortunately one local business decided to ignore the City’s warning and by October 8th had placed more gambling machines in their store. Another search warrant was obtained and 5 more machines were confiscated on October 12th. Their Certificate of Occupancy has been revoked and their doors locked pending a hearing.

Please know that the Duncanville Police Department will continue to work hard to protect our citizens from the criminal element that these devices bring into our neighborhoods.
