Duncanville Panthers Lead 7-6A Standings

Panthers down South Grand Prairie 58-46 and defeat DeSoto 93-86 in double overtime to remain on top in the 7-6A standings.

Duncanville trailed 12-9 after one, but controlled the Warriors the rest of the game to outscore SGP the remainder of the game.

Cameron Massey scored 23 points for the Panthers, while Jakobi Pearson had 13 points and Jordan Masenburge had 10 points to round out the double-digit scorers for Duncanville. Bryce Cook with 17 points and Karlyn Kenner with 10 points were the leading scorers for the Warriors.

It took two overtimes for Duncanville to finally take down DeSoto 93-86 to remain undefeated in district play and leap over DeSoto in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches weekly poll and take over sixth place, behind Denton Guyer, Austin Westlake, Cy Falls, Spring Dekaney and South Garland. South Grand Prairie is listed in 10th place in the same poll.

The game was knotted at 70-70 after regulation, with both teams scoring 8 points each in the first overtime. In the second OT the Panthers caught on fire and outscored the Eagles 15-8 to take the win.

Pearson had 33 points for the game, followed by Steven Quinn with 26 points and Ja’Bryant Hill with 11 points. For DeSoto, Feron Hunt scored 19 points and Rodrick Mason contribute 18 points. LaVontae Shenault with 13, Jahmar Young with 11 and Chris Pryor with 10 points rounded out the double-digit scoring for DeSoto.
