Domination…total domination. That is the only explanation for the game between the Duncanville Pantherettes and the Grand Prairie Lady Gophers on Tuesday night at the Pantherettes walked out with a 91-1 victory.
By the end of the first quarter the Pantherettes had a 44-0 lead and officials had begun using a continuous clock in order to speed up the game. At the half the lead had jumped to 62-0.
The Lady Gophers still didn’t score in the third quarter and Duncanville held an 81-0 lead. Finally in the fourth quarter the Lady Gophers scored on a free throw, while the Pantherettes tallied 10 more points for the final 91-1 victory.
Twelve Pantherettes scored in the game, with Zarielle Green and Aniya Thomas score 13 points each and Lauren Bowie and Starr Jacobs scored 12 points each to lead all scorers.
Currently the Pantherettes are listed as the #1 6A team in Texas by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches and #1 in the MaxPreps National Computer Rankings. USA Today, which is always slow to recognize the Pantherettes, has them listed as the #17 team in the nation in their expert rankings and #6 in their computer rankings.
The Pantherettes head to Irving on Friday night for 6 p.m. game against the Lady Tigers as their last game before the Sandra Meadows Classic on December 28-30 at the Sandra Meadows Arena on the Duncanville High School Campus
