Duncanville Ousted From the Playoffs – Plano Defeats Pantherettes 60-48

Fort Worth – The last team to put Duncanville out of the playoffs is the latest team to end the Pantherettes’ dreams of another state title. Plano beat Duncanville in 2015 to end that run, and the Lady Wildcats ended the chances of a 3-peat at Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center on Saturday afternoon by downing the Pantherettes 60-48 in the regional finals.

Duncanville had plenty of chances early, but flat play, missed shots from the paint and missed free throws saw the game all knotted up at 26 points apiece at halftime.

Plano came out and pressed the Pantherettes from the start and Duncanville showed no sense of urgency and bad passes let the Lady Wildcats build confidence throughout the game.

Plano began pulling away in the third, first slowly and then the floodgates opened.

Hannah Gusters tied the game at 33-33 with a little less than five minutes left in the third period with an and one after being fouled in the paint. But Plano went on a 9-1 run to take a 42-34 lead into the fourth period.

While the Pantherettes would show flashes of urgency during the contest, panic set in with 3:32 to play and Plano holding a 50-41 lead. Shots were rushed and Duncanville was forced to foul in order to try and get back in the game. However, Plano was consistently good from the free throw line and did not let Duncanville back into the game.

Duncanville could not get any closer than seven points the remainder of the game. Gusters fouled out at the 2:23 mark with Plano holding a 50-43 lead and then Aniya Thomas fouled out with :29 seconds remaining in the contest with the Lady Wildcats leading 56-48.

Duncanville’s Krislyn Marsh and Zarielle Green both scored 13 points in the loss, while Hannah Gusters left the game with 12 points.

Lolo Davenport scored 19 points for Plano and Jordyn Merritt scored 12 points.
