Duncanville ISD Education Foundation Gala Event Cancelled

The gala event benefiting the Duncanville ISD Education Foundation has been cancelled, according to Foundation Board of Directors president Carla Fahey, to allow the group to redevelop fundraising initiatives. The event was previously scheduled for Saturday, March 24.

“Our annual gala has received wonderful support from businesses and individuals in this community for over ten years,” Fahey said. “But based on ticket sales to date, this year’s event would not have been financially feasible. We will use the time and effort normally dedicated to this year’s event to develop new and different funding-raising alternatives.”

Many businesses throughout the community are continually adapting their daily operations due to the effects of technology and the information age. Fahey sites the changing landscape of the economy and business world as an opportunity for the Foundation to be more innovative and adaptable. “Local business owners have had to alter the way they do business in response to changes in the market place and among consumers,” she said. “We’re experiencing the same need to evolve, and we view it as an opportunity to do even more in the future.”

The Education Foundation is operated by a volunteer Board of Directors that Fahey credits for the organization’s successes. Since its beginnings in 1996, the Foundation has funded more than $820,000 in innovative teaching grants solely to benefit Duncanville ISD teachers.

Gala event ticket holders and sponsors may choose to receive a full refund or donate payments to the Education Foundation. Special thanks and appreciation are extended to Gala Chair Marlies Peregory and her committee, Vice President Sheila Casey, and Foundation Secretary Irene Rodriguez for their time and hard work.
