Duncanville Hosting ‘Duncan Whoville’ Themed Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting

City of Duncanville – In celebration of the Christmas Holiday, the City of Duncanville is hosting the annual Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting on Friday, December 1, 2017. This year’s festivities will feature the annual parade down Main Street, pictures with Santa, the tree-lighting ceremony and much more.

Parade & Tree Lighting Events

Event Type: Parade
Price: Free to the Public
Description: The Christmas parade will be hosted by the Duncanville Parks & Recreation Department. This year’s Christmas Parade theme is “Duncan Whoville” – a Dr. Suess and Whoville themed Christmas.
Time: 7 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Location: The parade route will extend from Freeman to Wheatland, Wheatland to Main and dis-embarking on Main at Carder.
Special Info: To participate in the parade, please register with the Parks & Recreation Department at 201 James Collins Boulevard, Duncanville.

Various closures will affect the Wheatland and Main Street area beginning at 6 p.m.

Tree Lighting Ceremony & Concert

Event Type: Tree Lighting & Concert
Price: Free to the Public
Description: The Duncan Whoville Tree Lighting and Concert will feature commentary by Mayor David Green and the music of Duncanville ISD’s Elementary & High School Choirs.
Time: 8 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Location: In front of Duncanville Feed Store, 219 N Main Street.

Family Activities

Price: Free to the Public
Description: Enjoy the festivities hosted by the City of Duncanville’s Park & Recreation Department which includes pictures with Santa and more!
Time: 8 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Location: Ben Franklin Apothecary (Pictures with Santa).

Art Walk & Pop-Up Gallery

Event Type: Art Walk & Pop-Up Gallery
Price: Free to the Public
Description: In conjunction with the Inner.Space art Gallery, the Duncanville Design Studio will host a pop-up art walk and gallery featuring local artisans and craftsmen.
Time: 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Location: Between the Rice Pot and the Duncanville Community Theater, 106 S. Main Street.

Shuttle Service

Event Type: Shuttle Service
Price: Free to the Public
Description: Due to various street closures and limited parking, the City of Duncanville will offer a free shuttle service before, during and after the event.
Time: 5 p.m. – end of event
Location: Costco, 250 E Hwy 67, Duncanville.
Special Info: To catch the parade, park and ride from Costco to the Phase I stop located at the southeast corner of Main and Wheatland at the Dallas County Tax Office. After the parade, road closures will open allowing the stop to progress to Phase II, located adjacent to the Main Street activities at West Freeman and Main Street.
