Duncanville Defeats Midlothian 47-41

The Duncanville Panthers’ state ranking fell to #22 this week, as they prepared to face the District 7-5A last place Midlothian Panthers.

dhs_midlo_002Duncanville and Midlothian battled the first period, changing leads, before Duncanville ended the quarter with a 10-8 lead. In the second period Midlothian out shot Duncanville and went into the half with a 15-14 lead on the shooting of Nick Velasquez’s 5-point quarter.

dhs_midlo_003Coach Danny Henderson made adjustments at the half and Duncanville came out on fire and took a 45-38 lead going into the final period. Leading the way in the third for Duncanville was Jerami Grace with 7 points.

Duncanville was happy to have that 7-point cushion as Midlothian out scored Duncanville 20-17 in the final period to take a 47-41 victory.

Duncanville scoring was led by Grace with 16 points, followed by Omar Sherman with 13, and Matthew McQuaid with 7 points. Defensively Sherman pulled down 7 rebounds and Dominique Thomas pulled in 7 boards.

For Midlothian, Romello Chapman scored 20 points, followed by Cody Meyers with 10 points.

Duncanville will next face Cedar Hill this Friday. Cedar Hill comes in with a 5-3 record, and the Longhorns are ranked #16 in the state. Tip-off for the boy’s game will be at 7:30PM at the Sandra Meadows Arena.
