Duncanville Crime Prevention Officer Honored at State-Wide Awards Ceremony

The Duncanville Police Department is proud to salute one of its own following state-wide recognition.

Crime Prevention Specialist Officer Doug Sisk was recently honored as the “Outstanding Crime Prevention Specialist Overall” and the recipient of the 2009-2011 Presidential Award at the 2011 Texas Crime Prevention Awards Ceremony.

The Texas Crime Prevention Association (TCPA), which hosts the annual awards ceremony, reviewed nominees for the award and selected Officer Sisk for “making the greatest overall contributions to crime prevention.”

Officer Sisk coordinates crime prevention programs for the Duncanville Police Department and was instrumental in implementing the first catalytic converter etching program inTexas. Additionally, Officer Sisk assists with the state-wide Hide, Lock and Take Program, helps organize neighborhood watches and National Night Out, and coordinates the Duncanville Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy and Citizens on Patrol (COP) Program.

Although very active at the state and local level, Officer Sisk was surprised by the accolade.

“Winning the awards came as a total surprise, and I am honored to have received such an esteemed award from my fellow Crime Prevention Specialists from across the state,” said Officer Sisk.

“I am appreciative of the recognition that I and the Duncanville Police Department have received as a result of these awards. I love my job and strive to make the city a safer place and make the citizens and businesses ofDuncanvilleharder targets for crime,” he added.

TCPA is a state-wide organization offering crime prevention training to law enforcement agencies of all types. Member organizations include municipal police agencies, sheriff’s departments, and specialized law enforcement organizations, including those serving college campuses. Additionally, private security professionals, loss prevention experts and crime prevention specialists make up the TCPA’s approximately 400 members state-wide.
