The Duncanville Panthers slammed the door on the Irving Tigers in the second quarter of Tuesday night’s game and pulled away for the 75-41 win.
The Tigers stayed close to start the game, in thanks to the hot 3-point shooting of Angel Garcia and Anthony Union. However, Dexter Johnson and Tyler Watkins answered for the Panthers and Duncanville held a 2-point lead after the first period.
In the second, the Duncanville defense clamped down and the Panthers went on a 15-2 run to give Duncanville a 32-17 lead at the half.
In the third both teams traded buckets, until Duncanville went on an 8-0 run to close out the period and hold a 50-27 lead. The final periods was fairly academic. Except for the hot shooting of Irving’s Union, with 10 points in the fourth, the Panthers closed the game out on the shooting of Douglass Merida’s 12 points in the quarter, and Gerald Bowie’s 8 point period, to take the 75-41 win.
Johnson led Duncanville scorers with 18 points, followed by Merida with 12 points, Watkins with 11 points, and Bowie with 10 points.
Union was the only double-digit scorer, with 19 points, for Irving.
