With a new parade route, location and ribbon cutting ceremony

Come celebrate a “Classic Christmas” in Duncanville on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.! This year’s Christmas festivities are going to be quite different than ever before!

The scheduled activities include the Parade, Tree Lighting Ceremony, and the Main Street Ribbon Cutting Ceremony complete with entertainment, carolers, Santa Claus, and more!

“In an effort to commemorate the completion of the Phase 1 of the Main Street Project, the City is moving the parade route and tree lighting ceremony to Main Street and Center, the heart of the City,” said Shane Gravens, Parks and Recreation Director. “Moving the parade route and tree lighting allows us to showcase Main Street and infuse some variety into the holiday celebration, which we are very excited about.”

The Parade will begin at 7:00 p.m. with the Tree Lighting to follow immediately at the newly redesigned Memorial Park, located at the intersection of Main Street and Center Street.

“The Main Street Ribbon Cutting will take place at 8:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity for attendees to visit the businesses on Main Street for some Christmas shopping,” added Gravens.

Those interested in entering a float in the Parade can download a parade entry application at www.duncanville.com or call (972) 780-5074. There is no parade entry fee, and the entry deadline is Monday, November 28, 2011.
