The Duncanville Panthers rolled over the Irving Tigers 31-0, racking up 438 yards of total offense, while holding Irving to only 60 yards of offense in Thursday night’s game.
Duncanville’s speed, on both sides of the ball was on full display. The passing game stretched the field with several long passes, including a 67-yard Jaylin Nelson to Mackendrick Jackson touchdown pass, and a 21-yard Trezon Connley pass to Odell Smith. Those long passes opened the running lanes as Alfredo Porter found the end zone on a 27-yard run and a 34-yard run. The only other scoring came on a Josh Delgado 38-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.
The Panther defense spent most of the night in the Tiger backfield. Six Irving rushers had -19 yards on 20 attempts. The leading rusher for the Tigers was Raekwon Young with 17 yards on 4 attempts.
Leading the defense was junior Marcus Mosely with 9 tackles and senior Javion Adams with 5 tackles. Mosley was also credited with 1-½ sacks, with senior Jamarcus Roberson recording a sack and junior Terrance Newman getting the other side of the ½ sack.
Nelson was 8-12 for 136 yards, 1 touchdown and had 1 interception. While junior QB Connley saw significant action in the second half and went 5-10 for 87 yards and a touchdown pass. The leading rusher for Duncanville was Porter, with 4 carries for 73 yards and two touchdowns. Nelson had 3 carries for 37 yards. Jackson had the one touchdown reception for 67-yards, and Tre Siggers had 4 catches for 49 yards.
Duncanville’s next game will be at home next Friday night, September 30, at 7:30 p.m. against the Cedar Hill Longhorns. Cedar Hill has a Friday night game, at home, this week against DeSoto.
