Doris McNellis of Duncanville passed away January 31, 2018. She was born January 4, 1929 in Dallas.

Doris was a long time member of Oak Cliff Assembly in Dallas before it became the Oaks Fellowship in Red Oak, Texas. She taught Sunday school for over 40 years and touched the lives of many, many friends. Doris was dedicated to her Lord and to her church. She and two other ladies, Benna Camp and Naomi Upchurch, sang together beginning at the young ages of 11 and 12 years old. They were known as “The Girls”. For Oak Cliff Assembly, they sang on the old radio station KSKY for many years, attended the Stamps Music School in Dallas, and won many awards. After college, they became known as the Oak Cliff Trio and blessed the hearts of many friends and church members as they continued to sing together for many years. Doris was a District Manager for Avon products for over 30 years and at one time was rated second in the nation of Avon managers.

Doris is survived by her son, Tony McNellis and wife Sharon; daughter, Diane Baldwin and husband Stephen; granddaughter, Jessica Morgan; grandson, Matthew McNellis; great-granddaughter, Kimber Pearl Morgan; sister-in-law, Betty Riley; and many nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.

On a person’s grave marker are listed their date of birth and date of passing. Between those dates is a small “dash” and may signify the achievements that person made in their life in that short dash. To those who knew Doris, “her dash counted”. She served the Lord with gladness!

Visitation with family and friends will be 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville.

The funeral service is 11:00 Monday, February 5 at the Oaks Fellowship in Red Oak, Texas.
