DHS Class of 2018 Celebrates Graduation

Duncanville ISD – The Duncanville High School Class of 2018 graduated Friday evening at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas.

The class included more than 800 graduates. Three students earned an associate degree along with their diploma through the district’s partnership with Mountain View College. Students also earned 65 professional certifications including those in architectural design, cosmetology and certified nursing assistant programs.

The valedictorian for the Class of 2018 is Hannah Ismail; the salutatorian is Sharif Long.

In her speech to the graduating class, Duncanville High School Executive Principal Tia Simmons extoled the seniors for the number of students who applied to and were accepted to college. She applauded the class’s collective $15 million in scholarships, and she praised parents for encouraging their students to succeed.

“In this final opportunity to address the Class of 2018 as students, I want you to know that you have made us tremendously proud! We are indeed PANTHER PROUD OF YOU!,” Ms. Simmons said. “Remember that you are the legacy that is Duncanville, The City of Champions. You will forever be a champion in all you do.”
