DHS Band Students Earn State’s Highest Honor

The Duncanville High School band had 9 students earn All-State Musician honors. The students were selected from auditions at the Area competition on January 7.

All-State is the highest honor a student musician can earn in the state of Texas.

Congratulations to the following students:

  • Madeline Figueroa – Bb Clarinet
  • Mercy Ogunlade – Bb Clarinet
  • Robert Graham – Bass Clarinet
  • John Cruz – Baritone Saxophone (second year all-state)
  • David Williams – Trumpet
  • Kahlil Wyatt – Tenor Trombone
  • Sharif Long – Tuba (second year all-state)
  • Jason Alanis – Tuba
  • Elijah Waters – Percussion

These students will travel to San Antonio on February 8 to attend the Texas Music Educators Association Conference. While in San Antonio, they will rehearse Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for concerts held on Saturday.
