DHS Athletic Update

Soccer
Congratulations to the Duncanville High School girls varsity soccer team – they defeated Mansfield Timberview on Tuesday, March 20 with a single goal scored by Lizeth Cavazos! You can read a re-cap of the game which secured the girls spot in the playoffs by clicking here. The team’s last home game is Friday, March 23 at Old Panther Field.

Tennis
The Duncanville HS varsity tennis team competed in the Coppell Invitational on Friday, March 9 and took the First Place Overall Team title. Jocelle Rudico extended her streak in girls singles to 15-0, winning First Place. Eric Shimomura and Austin Gula won their second tournament in a row in boys doubles. Barry Harris and Emilee Stinemetz also took First Place in mixed doubles. Those winning Second Place titles at the tournament were Daejia Lynch and Andrew Gula in singles.

Golf
Congratulations to the DHS boys golf team on their First Place success at the Maypearl Spring Fling Golf Tournament on Monday, March 19. Outstanding performances were turned in by Bradley Bowden, Brad Peregory, Steven Mendez, and Michael Estrada. Brad Peregory shot a personal best 88, while Bradley Bowden was crowned tournament champion with his career best 82.

Baseball
Over spring break the DHS varsity baseball team defeated Midlothian 2-1 and lost to Mansfield 4-2. Their season record is 5-4, and they play on Friday, March 23 against Mansfield Timberview in an away game at 7:00 pm.

Girls Basketball
Congratulations to Duncanville ISD Athletic Director and Head Girls Varsity Basketball Coach Cathy Self-Morgan – she was named SportsDayHS’ Coach of the Year! Senior Empress Davenport was also named to the SportsDayHS All-Area Girls Basketball Team. You can read more here.
