Dallas Baptist Women’s Soccer will open the 2012 season as the No. 15 ranked team in the country after the release of the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Poll Monday afternoon. Only one other team from the state of Texas was ranked in the Top 25 while reigning National Champion Saint Rose captured the top spot. The Lady Patriots will look to build on the momentum of their 16-6-1 season from a year ago and a run to the Round of 16 in the National Tournament.

Michelle Lenard returns for her fifth season at the helm of the Dallas Baptist women’s soccer program and will look to propel the Lady Patriots forward as their win total has increased in each of her previous four years. The team will open their 2012 campaign at home against Abilene Christian on August 30 at 6:30 pm. Abilene Christian in the same team the Lady Patriots opened against in 2011 – and the same team that closed out the season with an identical 2-1 score in overtime in the national tournament. But this DBU team is has another year of experience on their ledger and will look to reverse the trend against their in-state rival. Heartland Conference action will open against St. Edward’s on September 15 as the Lady Patriots travel to Austin for a showdown with the team that challenged for the regular season championship a year ago. In this matchup, Lenard and her team will look to continue the trend as they captured the conference championship a season ago and will be featured as the team to beat in 2012.
