The Lady Patriot Golf Team posted a second round team 306 en route to a first place victory at the Hawks Creek Classic in Fort Worth, Texas. This marks the first time in Lady Patriot Golf history that victory was claimed on the first tournament of the season.

Victory was also the story for Junior Mercedes Rios who carded a second round, two-over par 74 after her opening round of 77.  Rios picked up right where she left off last season when she individually qualified for the NCAA National Championship in Louisville, Kentucky.

“Great team win today – I am very proud of all of the girls,” shared Head Coach Kenny Trapp.  “Very happy with the way that Mercedes battled out there on the course – she definitely earned her individual medalist honors out there today,” added Trapp.

Sophomore Erin Barrington recorded her second career top-five finish as she followed up her opening round 79 with a stellar three-over par 75. Barrington finished in fourth place individually.

Freshman Macie Seeker also performed exceptionally for the Lady Patriots with her two round total of 158 and an eighth place individual finish (77-81). Freshman Sydney Williams followed up her opening round 80 with a seven-over par 79, good enough for a tenth place finish.

Also contributing to the Patriots’ efforts was Senior Courtney Burris (77-85) and Freshman Abbey Bradley (87-78).
