DBU Volleyball Signs Mergener to Letter of Intent

Head Volleyball Coach Cathy Ray Kokel announced Tuesday the signing of Tadam Mergener to a National Letter of Intent. Mergener, a senior outside hitter at Midlothian High School, will begin competing for the Lady Patriots in the fall of 2012. “Tadam is the perfect fit for Lady Patriot Volleyball,” said Kokel. “She is a great young lady of character and is a joy to know. I am excited about her future here at DBU.”

Mergener, a member of the National Honor Society, plays for the Texas Advantage Volleyball Club and has received numerous individual and team awards during her prep playing career, including:

  • 2011 USAV Beach Junior Qualifier 1st place, Galveston
  • 2011 USAV Beach Junior High Performance
  • 2011 AAU Nationals 3rd place
  • 2011 USAV Junior Nationals 9th place, Atlanta
  • 2011 5-5A 1st team All-District
  • 2011 5-5A Academic All-District
  • 2010 USAV Junior Nationals, Reno
  • 2010 USAV Junior National Qualifier 1st Place, Baltimore
  • 2010 5-5A 1st Team All-District
  • 2010 5-5A Academic All-District
  • 2010 Midlothian Volleyball MVP Award
  • 2009 16-4A Academic All-District
  • 2009 USA Sister Cities Volleyball Team Captain -Olympiad – Reggio Emilia, Italy – Bronze Medal

  • 2008 USAV Junior Beach Mid-South Qualifier 2nd place

“Tadam will add a presence to our offense and is a high energy defensive player on the court. She will fit in nicely with our returning players and will help us as we continue to move forward,” added Kokel. The Lady Patriots finished the 2011 regular season in fourth place in conference and are currently preparing for the National Christian College Athletic Association Regional Tournament to be held in McPherson, Kansas this weekend.
