Intensity. Competitiveness. Enthusiasm.

These are the things Head Coach Cathy Ray Kokel asks of her players each time they take the floor. Thursday night at The Burg Center, she got all three from whichever six she put on the court. The Lady Patriots improved to 12-12 on the season and 6-4 in conference play after defeating Oklahoma Panhandle State 25-20, 25-15, and 25-15.

“I thought we played with the intensity we ask for,” said Kokel. “We took an early lead and were able to continue playing well the whole match. There were no let ups in focus and we fought until the final point.”

Individually for the Lady Patriots, Cameron Hartson led the way with 20 digs and a kill on the night. When asked about her sophomore defensive specialist, Kokel responded, “I thought Cameron was great tonight. She won our ICE Award (given to the player who best exhibits Intensity, Competitveness, and Enthusiasm) tonight, no question.”

Kristin Secord recorded 13 kills on offense with Tyler Bradsher chipping in 35 assists.

The Lady Patriots return to the court and to Heartland Conference action on Saturday as they take on UT-Permian Basin at noon.
