The Dallas Baptist Patriot Basketball Team improved to 8-3 on the year after a decisive win over the Tigers from East Central University on Wednesday night.

The Patriots grabbed the lead only three minutes into the game when Senior T.J. Clark connected on a jumper and were able to fend off the Tigers throughout the entire game never relinquishing the lead.  The Patriots stretched their lead to 10 points, 32-22, with 6:29 left in the half before the Tigers were able to muster offense from Nick Young and Bobby McAdoo to bring it to within four points, 38-34, at halftime.

A quick five points by the Patriots to start the second half seemed to stun the Tigers as DBU was able to extend their lead once again to as much as 10 points, 55-45, midway through the half.  ECU was not able to recover as the Patriot offense continued to fire on all cylinders going on a 10-2 with only 2:23 to play.  DBU held on to capture their eighth win on the season, defeating the Tigers, 78-64.

The Patriots were slightly outrebounded by the Tigers 35-32, but made up ground on the defensive side of the ball as they forced 23 Tiger turnovers to DBU’s 14.  DBU shot 49.2 percent from the field as a team during the win compared to the Tigers’ 40.7 percent.

Junior Nick Fox led the Patriots on the offensive side of the ball finishing the night with a game high 24 points.  Fox connected on nine of 16 shots from the field, one of two from three, and drained five of six from behind the charity stripe.  Senior Jordan McGowen also showed a strong offensive presence, shooting two of three from behind the 3-point arc and 5 or 12 from the field, while adding three from the charity stripe for a total of 15 points.  McGowen led the Patriots with six total rebounds on the night.

The Patriots return to the hard wood on Saturday, December 10, as they host Southeastern Oklahoma State University in The Burg Center on the DBU campus.  Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
