Leading the way for the Lady Patriots was Freshman Glynnis Meade from San Antonio, Texas. Meade ran the tough 6k course in a time of 24:42 placing 48th overall. Following Meade were fellow teammates including Senior Linet Kibet and Junior Ashley Spivey. Kibet and Spivey placed 50th and 59th overall. Rounding out the top 5 for the Lady Patriots were Freshmen Sarah Rayas and Katie Mark placing 65th and 66th respectively. Overall the Lady Patriots placed 10th as a team
Leading the way for the Patriot Men was Sophomore Jacob Phillips. Phillips ran the 8k course in a time of 27:11 to finish in 44th place. Following Phillips was teammate Sophomore Joshua Pauley in a time of 27:16 placing 45th. Close behind were Seniors John Millsap and Zach Morgan. Millsap finished 53rd in a time of 27:55 and Morgan placed 59th in a time of 28:04. Rounding out the top 5 for the Patriots was Edwin Kiptoo who placed 61st in a time of 28:22. The Patriot men placed 9th as a team.
“Overall it was not our best day” said Head Coach Matt Hansen. “This was a very tough course, but I saw alot of fight out there and that is a really good thing. We still have a lot of work to do and are looking forward to racing again next week.”
Both teams will return to action next weekend in Wichita Falls, Texas, as they compete in the 2011 Midwestern State Cross Country Carnival, hosted by Midwestern State University.
