DBU Men’s Soccer Drops Defensive Battle, 1-0

The Dallas Baptist Patriot Men’s Soccer Team fell prey to another late goal, Thursday afternoon, dropping a 1-0 decision at McMurry University. The Patriots (4-8-1) and WarHawks (5-9-0) battled scoreless for 75 minutes before DBU allowed the deciding goal.

The Patriots totaled seven shots, three of them taken by David Balyeat, with two of the team total on goal. McMurry took 10 shots, four on target, with DBU goalkeeper Chuck Schober (4-6-1) earning three saves.

For the home club, Cody Gentry scored the lone goal of the contest, an unassisted score. Neil O’Sullivan (5-7-0) had two saves in the shutout.

Saturday brings another road game for the Patriots, as they travel to University of Texas-Permian Basin. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m.

Following Saturday’s game, the DBU men return to Patriot Field next week, hosting Texas A&M International, Thursday at 7:30 p.m., and St. Mary’s University for their home finale, Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
