DBU Men’s Soccer Defeats Oklahoma Christian 2-0

THE LEAD
Dallas Baptist defeated Oklahoma Christian 2-0 on Saturday at Eagle Soccer Field in Edmond, Oklahoma, to improve to 2-0 in Heartland Conference play. The match was scoreless until the 77th minute, when junior forward Riley Alvey put a penalty kick past Eagle goalkeeper Evan Helker for his sixth goal of the season.

Freshman midfielder Michalin Dennie extended the Patriot lead to 2-0 in the 89th minute on a chip shot over Helker. DBU goalie Mason Stringer tied his season-high save total with seven in Saturday’s match.

IN THE NUMBERS
23 – Stringer has made 23 saves in his last three matches.
1 – The win over OCU marks the first time the Patriots have started 2-0 in conference play.
2 – Stringer recorded his second shutout of the season, a single-season high.
