The Patriots (1-0-0) were led by goals from junior David Balyeat and freshman Matt Steffens, both scoring in the second half. Balyeat put the Patriots on top early in the frame, knocking in a penalty kick less than five minutes into the half. The DBU men added an insurance goal in the final ten minutes, with Landon Lacy passing off to Steffens.

All totaled, the Patriots took 21 shots, nine of them on goal. The Yellowjackets managed 15 shots, though only four were on target.

LeTourneau (0-2-0) had their top offensive effort from Hunter Hembrough, who put up seven shots. Anthony Martinez received the loss, working the entire game in goal and registering seven saves.

The Patriots return to Dallas for their home opener, Tuesday, hosting West Texas A&M University at 3 p.m.
