The Patriot Men’s Golf Team traveled to Muskogee, Oklahoma and picked up a Top 5 finish at the NSU Golf Classic by finishing the tournament at +19 as a team and closing out the tournament in 4th place.
Brandon Johnson led the Patriots as he finished the tournament at +2 and tied for 11th place. His opening round 69 was four shots off the pace as was his closing round 72. In all, his score finished seven shots behind Ethan Adamson of Arkansas Fort-Smith.
Austin Struble finished tied for 17th with a five over par for the tournament and Charles Gipson finished one shot behind him to tie for 22nd place. Mason Horner and Jamie Youree rounded out the scoring for the Patriots at +10 and +13 respectively.
“In all, I was pretty pleased with how we played this week,” said Head Coach Kenny Trapp. “As with each tournament we play, there are things we’re going to learn and things we’re going to work on. This one is no different. We’ll get out and practice this week and hopefully each of our guys with improve on their score the next time out.”
Patriot Golf will take about a month off before returning to play at the NCCAA National Tournament in Panama City, Florida on October 24 and 25.
