Only five minutes later, a mis-played ball by a Newman defender deflected into the goal for an own goal to give DBU a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

The Lady Patriots continued their dominance in the second half when Freshman Lea Sedwick drilled a ten yard shot past the Newman goalkeeper for her 10th goal of the season, giving DBU a commmanding 3-0 lead in the 52nd minute.

Sophomore Danielle Presley sealed the game for DBU in the 80th minute as she scored on a second chance rebound after Senior Kourtney Edwards blasted a shot that was blocked, sending the ball straight to Presley who tapped it in for her fifth goal of the season.  The Lady Patriot defense was able to hold off a late push by the Lady Jets to capture their third consecutive win to improve to 8-4-1 on the year.

DBU was able to out shoot Newman by 15, as they tested the Lady Jet’s goalkeeper with 22 total shots in the win.  Newman was only able to muster seven total shots on the night.
