The DBU Ice Hockey team finished the weekend with an impressive 9-5 win over UNT on Saturday, and a shoot-out loss on Friday night. The Patriots have now stretched their record to 7-0-0-1 to remain in first place in the ACHA West.

Freshman Brent Jones tallied six points for the weekend and is now leading the league with 26 points in just 8 games. Retuning junior Matt Basset tallied five points this weekend and is now ranked third overall in the league for points.

Goaltender Colton Reece allowed only two goals in regulation time on Friday night and saw a total of 46 shots. Reece has brought his goals against average down to 2.20 and leads the league in total minutes played.

Coach Mark Hall had this to say about this weekend’s performance, “This weekend’s match up with the University of North Texas was a great display of how much the team has grown and developed in just a few weeks. Their discipline and commitment showed on Saturday as they scored seven unanswered goals in the last half of the game despite being down 5-2 in the second period.”

The Patriots will face off again this weekend on the road against the University of New Mexico Ice Wolves in Albuquerque, NM.
