DBU Fall Semester Cheer Review

Basketball season is well underway, and the Patriot Cheerleaders have had a successful fall semester. The semester kicked off with our first ever Red Rally to honor the fall season sports. Next, was Midnight Madness in October to celebrate the beginning of the Patriot Basketball season, and we had the largest turnout ever. To wrap up the semester, the Patriot Cheerleaders hosted a full week of campus events for Homecoming, such as the Parade, Red Rally, Extravaganza, Tailgate Party and the Patriot Basketball game.

The Patriot Cheerleaders are DBU representatives to the community as well. They made their first community appearance for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in the beginning of September and will continue to be consistent supporters of MDA. Another organization that the Cheerleaders enjoyed working with this year was Youth World, where they were able to teach cheerleading to underprivileged children in the area.  The Patriot Cheerleaders also performed at some local elementary schools and participated with the rest of the Athletic department in Feast of Sharing and the Christmas Child box collection.

With the fall semester coming to a close, the Patriot Cheerleaders look forward to next semester as they continue carrying on the University Athletic traditions. They look forward to supporting the Basketball Team into the playoffs before heading to their own competition. The Patriot Cheerleaders are competing in the Texas Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championship on March 24, 2012, in Austin, Texas.

“I am more than pleased with how well the Cheerleaders have represented themselves, and the school, throughout the year. We are having one of our strongest years yet, and I am so blessed to be coaching such a hard working group of girls,” says Head Coach, Michelle Grose.
