DBU Drops Finale to St. Edward’s

The Dallas Baptist Patriot Men’s Soccer closed their regular season and conference schedules, Saturday, dropping a 3-0 decision at St. Edward’s University. The first-year Patriots program closes the regular season at 4-12-1, 1-8-1 in Heartland play.

The Hilltoppers (12-3-3, 7-1-2) went ahead early, scoring a pair of goals in less than three minutes. Daniel Riley knocked in a pass from Kyle Ruck in the 16th minute, and followed with another goal in the 19th minute, this time assisted by Karl DeZoeten. Ruck scored the third and final goal, this time with the assist by James Martin.

Chuck Schober (4-10-1) started in goal for Dallas Baptist, registering four saves and allowing the three goals. Eric Beltran came on to work the final 12 minutes in goal, earning one save. John Kaschak (12-3-3) earned the shutout for the Hilltoppers with a pair of saves.

Overall, the host club outshot the Patriots 21-6. The Hilltoppers put eight shots on goal, compared to two shots on target for Dallas Baptist.
