DBU Drops Contest with ENMU

The Dallas Baptist Men’s Soccer Team hosted non-conference foe, Eastern New Mexico University, Saturday, falling 4-0 to the visiting Greyhounds to move to 1-3-0 on the young season.

Abayneh Crosby opened the scoring for ENMU (5-2-0) in the 12th minute, on an assist from Luiz Buosi. The scoring went quiet for 25 minutes, before Michael Stewart knocked in a header on a pass from Carlos Viveros, his fourth goal of the season. Cantu Palombo added a second half goal, followed by Crosby’s second tally.

For Dallas Baptist, Eric Beltran made his first career start in goal, registering seven saves in taking the loss. Brian Robertson gave the top offensive effort, taking four shots, three of them on goal. All totaled, the Patriots made 12 attempts, five of them on target. The Greyhounds took 17 shots, 11 on goal. For the visitors, Fredrik Widfeldt (4-2-0) earned five saves in the win.

The Patriots will look to bounce back, playing a pair of home games this coming week. Thursday, the DBU men will host McMurray University at 7:30 p.m., followed by a Saturday afternoon contest with University of Texas-Permian Basin, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
