DBU Cruises Past UTPB, 4-0

The Dallas Baptist Patriot Women’s Soccer Team extended their winning streak to 10, Saturday, with a 4-0 win at University of Texas-Permian Basin. Danielle Presley led the offensive attack, scoring a pair of goals to go with one assist.

Presley opened the scoring just after the 17 minute mark for the Patriots (14-2-0), finishing a header on a crossing pass from Emilie MacDonaldAshley Cox struck less than two minutes later, scoring her sixth goal of the season, with the assist from Baylie Hill.

The third and fourth goals of the contest came just more than three minutes apart, near the halfway point in the second half. Lea Sedwick scored her 12th goal of the 2012 season, assisted by Presley, who scored her second goal of the contest, putting in another header, this time assisted by Lindsay Cox.

Kerry Edwards (14-2-0) earned her second consecutive shutout, eighth of the season, turning away the lone Falcons (1-14-0) shot on goal. The Patriots outshot the home club, 24-3, putting 11 shots on target. Victoria Ramirez took the loss in goal for UTPB, earning seven saves.

Saturday’s game concludes the regular season road schedule, as the DBU women return to Patriot Field for the final two regular season games next week. Texas A&M International visits Thursday at 5 p.m., followed by St. Mary’s University, Saturday at 12 p.m. The Patriots are currently 7-1-0 in Heartland Conference play, tied with St. Edward’s for the top conference spot.
