On Friday, October 14, and Saturday, October 15, members of the DBU Patriot Bass Fishing Team participated in the sixth annual Fishing for Freedom Bass Tournament on Lake Belton in Belton, Texas.  Nearly 300 boat owners and well over 300 members of our nation’s active and former military participated in this wonderful event hosted by Marine Outlet of Temple, Texas.

282 boats launched from the Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area on Saturday morning on Lake Belton, each carrying one amateur or professional angler and either one active or former service member.  Although the intention was to catch the largest limit of fish, the greatest pleasure was to spend a full day on the lake with those who sacrifice their lives everyday for our freedom.

“What a great event to be apart of in support of our nation’s military, both active and retired,” stated Assistant Director of Athletics Connor Smith.  “We look forward to next year’s Fishing for Freedom Bass Tournament.”

“What a blessing it was to fish with one of our nation’s active military service members,” shared Patriot Bass Fishing Advisor and Coach, Scott Darragh.  “These men and women sacrifice their lives for our freedom and we are very thankful for their service to this country.”

The DBU Patriot Bass Fishing Team will participate on the Arkansas Collegiate Fishing Trail on the Arkansas River in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on November 5.
