Dallas Baptist Basketball (16-13) dominated the opening round of the NCCAA Regional Tournament in Lakewood, Colorado on Wednesday as they defeated Crowley’s Ridge College, 109-56. The Patriots held Crowley’s Ridge to 33.8% shooting on the night, including 8-32 in the first half, while seven Patriots scored in double digits, including a game-high from Nick Fox with 18. The Patriots also pulled down a season-high 50 rebounds and dished out 26 assists.

In the first half, DBU jumped out to a 57-22 lead, while shooting 56.1%. That lead grew to as many as 62 and the final exclamation point on the game was put on by an Ishmael Awange dunk with 36 seconds left to play. “It was a good all-around effort today,” said Head Coach Blake Flickner. “Our defensive energy was good and we were unselfish, which shows itself in the 26 assists.”

The Patriots will turn around and play again tomorrow at 1:00 pm as they set to face Oklahoma Wesleyan in the second round of the tournament. The winner will advance to the regional championship game on Friday with the winner of the championship game punching a ticket to the NCCAA National Championship Tournament next week.
