DBU Basketball Announces National Letter of Intent Signings

Dallas, Texas – Head Basketball Coach Blake Flickner announced today the signing of two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent during the NCAA Early Signing Period. Myles Johnson, a guard from Arlington, Texas, andJason Gentry, a guard from Hondo, Texas, are both set to join the Patriots for the 2012-2013 season.

Johnson, a 6’5 guard at James Martin High School, averaged 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists per game in 2010-11 for Jeff Plemons and the Warriors. He led the Warriors in points, rebounds, and free throw percentage and was named First Team All-District for his efforts. Johnson won the Rotary Club Award from the City of Arlington and attends Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Gentry, a 6’2 guard from South Texas, averaged 14.8 points, 7 assists, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.9 steals per game last season as he garnered District MVP, All-Region, and Academic All-District Awards. Playing for Head Coach Fred McCollum, Gentry has received All-District and Academic All-District Awards each year of his high school career. He was also selected to the Pre-Season All-State Team for the upcoming 2011-2012 season. Gentry, a member of National Honor Society and FCA, plays summer basketball for Seth Engelken and the Islanders Basketball Foundation. He attends First Baptist Church in Hondo.

Coach Flickner and the Patriots continue their season tonight in Oklahoma as they take on Southwestern Oklahoma State before returning home to host the 2011 Patriot Thanksgiving Classic on November 25 and 26.
