DBU Athletic Directors ‘Stache Their Razors for Movember

If it looks a little hairy in the Dallas Baptist Athletic Office for the next couple weeks, it has nothing to do with the Lady Patriot Soccer Team advancing to the NCAA Tournament… or the start of basketball season… or the start of deer season (well, maybe a little bit the start of deer season). It has everything to do with the calendar flipping from October to Movember and five men becoming strategic with their shaving to shape, form, and manipulate their upper-lip hair into a stand against cancer.

The Directors of Athletics at Dallas Baptist and the Head Athletic Trainer, led by head honcho Ryan Erwin, have joined with Sidearm Sports – a Syracuse, New York  based website company –  and 114 other gentlemen around the country to participate in the national Movember movement to help fight and raise awareness for the battle against cancer. Sidearm Sports is the provider of the official website of DBU Athletics and will make a donation to the Movember Foundation for each participant from their associated schools.

“Sidearm contacted us regarding their desire for us to participate with them in the fight against cancer,” said Erwin. “We’ll have fun with it but it’s a serious battle. We all have been touched by the effects of cancer in one way or another so if it means more money to get us closer to a cure for different cancers, it’s not too much to ask us to grow, or attempt to grow in some cases, a mustache.”

Erwin is joined by his Assistant Directors of Athletics Nate FrielingTyler Knox, and Connor Smith and Head Athletic Trainer Chris Weeldreyer in growing various shapes of lip warmers. Each will map his progress through photographs and will share with the world on http://sidearmsports.com/movember.aspx.
