Dashaun Phillips Named LSC Defensive Back of the Year

Dashaun Phillips, 2009 graduate of Duncanville High School, was recently named to the 2011 Lone Star Conference’s (LSC) All-Conference team and named the LSC Defensive Back of the Year while playing for the Tarleton State Texans.

Phillips redshirted in 2009, but in 2010, he recorded 44 tackles, 26 of them unassisted, intercepted three passes, and had five pass breakups and one forced fumble. At DHS, he was named the Most Valuable Player as a defensive back and led the team in interceptions as a junior, and was an academic all-district as a junior and senior. Phillips was also named first team all-district his junior and senior year while at DHS.

Phillips led the Texans and the LSC with seven interceptions and 15 passes defended on the season. Phillips also added 50 tackles and played a major role in Tarleton’s five-game winning streak to end the year.

Phillips is majoring in Kinesiology and is the son of Cassandra Phillips.
