Dan Joutras age 59 of Cedar Hill, TX, passed away May 23, 2018 after a hard fought battle with Multiple Myeloma. Dan was born on December 20, 1958 in Joliet, Illinois to Edward and Genevieve Joutras. Dan graduated from Dallas Baptist University where he played baseball and was an assistant coach.

He retired from Northlake College in 2015 after 32 years of service with the Dallas Community College District. Dan began his career at Northlake in 1983 as the baseball coach, then served as the Athletic Director until his retirement. He loved his job so much that he felt as if he never worked a day in his life.
Dan was an avid sports fan and loved playing and coaching baseball. In addition to coaching at DBU and Northlake, Dan was a dedicated coach for numerous little league and select baseball teams. He enjoyed teaching young athletes the game of baseball and coached several teams in various World Series tournaments. He loved being a positive force in the lives of students and athletes.

Dan was a devoted Christian and was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. He continued to grow in the Lord throughout his life. Above all else, he loved the Lord and his family and he was so proud of his kids. Dan is preceded in death by his parents and older brother Bruce. He is survived by his family Susan Joutras of Cedar Hill, TX, Jennifer Joutras of Thousand Oaks, CA and Ryan Joutras of Mansfield, TX. He also leaves behind cousins Donna Lucas, Dyann Shaw and a host of other family and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Jaynes Memorial Chapel located at 811 S. Cockrell Hill Rd. Duncanville TX 75137. Deacon Larry Harmon and Pastor Russ Barksdale officiating.

Visitation with the family will be at 1:00 pm, prior to the service.
