The Patriots join the WAC this season after their second-straight trip to an NCAA Regional and three trips in the last five seasons as an independent. This will be the first season with conference affiliation for Dallas Baptist Baseball as they have spent the previous nine years competing as an independent and relying on an at-large berth to the NCAA Regional Tournament. In 2008, their third year of postseason eligibility, the Patriots were selected as the No. 2 seed at the College Station Regional. In 2011, DBU played as the No. 3 seed in Fort Worth and advanced to an NCAA Super Regional by way of winning the Fort Worth Regional. This past season, the Patriots played in the Waco Regional and advanced to the championship round before being bounced out of the tournament. As a member of the Western Athletic Conference, Dallas Baptist will have a chance at the automatic bid that is given to the winner of the WAC Tournament, which will be held May 22 – 26 at Quick Trip Park in Grand Prairie, Texas. The top eight teams from the regular season will advance to the conference tournament.

Dan Heefner will return several key players from last season’s regional run, including Preseason All-American Boomer Collins. The Patriots will also open a new stadium, Horner Ballpark, on February 15 as they host Creighton University at 6:30 pm on Opening Day of college baseball. The first conference series for DBU will be on the road as they travel to San Jose State on March 22 before hosting their first-ever NCAA Division I conference series on March 28 – 30 against Sacramento State. Sacramento State received one first place vote in the coaches’ voting, as did Texas State.

Tickets are still available for Dallas Baptist Baseball home games and can be purchased at dbutickets.com.
