Cross Country Travels to Arkansas

The Dallas Baptist University Patriot Cross Country Programs will be traveling to Fayetteville, Arkansas, to compete at the annual Chile Pepper XC Festival. This will be the most competitive meet on the Patriots’ slate this season with several nationally ranked NCAA DI universities taking part in the XC Festival.

Last time out, the Lady Patriots claimed the team title of the DII race at the Rogue Running/Grass Routes Running Festival, while the men were sixth as a team. Kelsey Bruce claimed individual honors in the DII race and was sixth overall when combining DI and unattached runners.

The Chile Pepper XC Festival will be the last tune-up for the Patriots before the Heartland Conference Championships next weekend.

“This is really just an opportunity to get in a 6k and 10k race for our athletes,” said Head Coach Jake Phillips. “Honestly, all we are looking for is an opportunity to get in the longer race and come home healthy. Conference is next week and that’s always our first goal every season. Running a 6k and 10k just gives us some experience at those distances for the Regional Championships.”
