Cross Country Completes Midwestern State Carnival

Women Finish 2nd, Men 3rd

The Dallas Baptist University Cross Country Teams returned to action this past weekend at the Midwestern State Carnival in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Leading the way for the Lady Patriots was Freshman Kelsey Bruce. Bruce ran to a Top Ten finish for the second time this season placing 5th. Bruce ran the 6k course in a time of 22:19. With that time, Bruce breaks into the Top 5 All-Time DBU Women 6k times. Following closely behind Bruce were teammates Linet Kibet and Glynnis Meade. Kibet placed 14th in a time of 23:47 and Meade placed 15th in a time of 23:49. Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Patriots were Freshmen Sarah Rayas and Katie Mark. Rayas placed 27th in a time of 24:41 and Mark placed 33rd in a time of 24:59.

The Lady Patriots finished in 2nd – placing in front of regional teams Abilene Christian, Eastern New Mexico, and Tarleton State. Nationally ranked Midwestern State won the meet.

Leading the way for the Patriot Men was Sophomore Joshua Pauley. Pauley finished in the Top Ten, placing 6th. Pauley ran the 10k course in a time of 35:05. Following Pauley were teammates Edwin Kiptoo and Zach Morgan. Kiptoo placed 12th in a time of 35:53 and Morgan placed 13th in a time of 35:59. Rounding out the scoring for the Patriots was Caleb Collins and Nic White. Collins placed 21st in a time of 36:48 and White placed 29th in a time of 38:31.

The Patriots finished 3rd – in front of UTPB, Tarleton State, West Texas A&M, and OPSU. Eastern New Mexico won the meet.

” Overall the times were better than last week and some of the athletes are making great strides” said Head CoachMatt Hansen. ” We have 2 weeks until our conference championships and we are working hard each day to get to where we want to be”

The Dallas Baptist University cross country teams will return to action October 22nd for the Heartland Conference Cross Country Championships hosted by Texas A&M International in Laredo, Texas
