The Eagles came out hot from the opening tip, with Senior guard Malik Hawkins knocking down two 3-pointers in the first quarter, to go along with 4 field goals from fellow Senior guard Ojai Black.

The Panthers began fighting back as the first quarter ended. At the 2:39 mark, the Panthers were trailing 14-3, but free throws from Sophomores Matthew McQuaid and Dominique Wilkins, kept the lead from growing any bigger, as the quarter closed out with the 18-7 lead for the Eagles.

Starting in the second quarter, Junior Post Omar Sherman led the Panthers on a comeback. Sherman took the ball at the low post on numerous occasions and turned to jam the ball home. Sherman also showed the rebounding prowess that the Panther fans have come to expect from him.

In the second quarter, Sherman had 3 rebounds, a blocked shot and a steal to go along with his 6 points as the Panthers fought back to cut the halftime lead to 25-19.

The third quarter was all Panthers as they continued to feed Sherman at the low post, and Sherman continued to dominate the boards. If not for two Eagle 3-pointers by Ojai Black as the quarter with the quarter closing, the Panthers could have taken a 38-29 lead into the final quarter, as they were holding the Eagles to only 4 points until the final minute of the third. The Panthers went on a 14-4 run in the third to take a 36-29 lead with fifty-three seconds remaining when Black hit the 3-pointers the Panther lead to 36-35.

Hampered by foul trouble, Senior Jerami Grace finally fouled out about mid-way through the fourth quarter, and Duncanville could not maintain their pace and couldn’t continue to keep up with the Eagles.

Duncanville finishes the year with a 23-11 season record.
