City and Chamber to Host Annual “Celebrate Duncanville” Event

The City of Duncanville in conjunction with the Duncanville Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 4th annual “Celebrate Duncanville” event this Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, located at 800 N. Main Street in Duncanville.

“This event is a unique opportunity to celebrate Duncanville and the businesses that contribute so much to the vitality of community,” said Duncanville Interim City Manager Jeanne Fralicks-Heard.

“Celebrate Duncanville” allows the City to give residents an update on the City’s progress, announce upcoming plans for the future and address challenges the City has faced. One significant challenge faced not only by Duncanville but the nation has been the depressed economic climate.

“As a result of many changes in the global economy, the past few years have presented numerous challenges for the City, local residents, and local businesses.   Despite this, Duncanville continues to progress and the State of the City Address demonstrates that,” added Fralicks-Heard.

The event features Duncanville Mayor David L. Green’s State of the City Address and presentation, which will focus on sustainability. Mayor Green’s speech examines the various components of creating a sustainable community such as community visioning, partnerships, policies and ordinances, city services and smart growth. In addition, Mayor Green will present the Mayor’s Awards of Excellence, which recognizes local businesses. Prior recipients include:
