Charles Maurice Williams passed from this life on April 4, 2018 at the age of 88. Maurice was born to J.W. Williams and Rosa Ann Gibson in Cedar Hill, TX on July 8, 1929. He lived his entire life in Cedar Hill. After completing high school, most of his work career was spent at Sunbeam Bread and The Dallas Times Herald.

Maurice’s hobbies included woodworking and working on antique clocks. He particularly enjoyed playing the guitar but he could play many instruments. He considered it a good day to be able to be on his tractor mowing the back pasture.

Maurice married Virginia Hopkins in November of 1948. They had two children, Sheilah and Chuck. Virginia preceded him in death in 1994.

Maurice is survived by his wife of 23 years, Madell Williams; Daughter, Sheilah Williams of Duncanville; Daughter-in-Law-Rhonda Williams of Cedar Hill; Grandchildren, Seth Williams of Atlanta, Georgia and Monica Williams of Arlington; and Great Grandson Gabriel Williams of Arlington. 

He is also survived by Madell’s Children Davida Guy and Husband John of Cedar Hill, Freda Wingate and Husband Greg of Mansfield; Grandchildren Lillie Guy of Fayetteville, AK, Adrienne McLain and Husband Jordan of Arlington and Leslie Waldson and Husband Andrew of Mansfield; Great Grandchildren Carly and Abigail McLain, and Logan and Griffin Waldson; Sisters Vivian Chumley of Cedar Hill and Hazel Grahnert of Arkansas; and various nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. Williams and Rosa Ann Gibson; Wife Virginia Hopkins; Son Chuck Williams; Brothers Harold, Grady and James; and Sisters Jeanette, Margaret, Bernice and Geraldine.

Visitation Services will be held at Jaynes Memorial Chapel, 811 South Cockrell Hill Rd., Duncanville, TX on Thursday, July 5 from 6-8 PM.

Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church, 602 West Beltline Rd., Cedar Hill, TX on Friday at 2pm.
